CrossFit injuries Knee pain in CrossFit
High-rep squats, box jumps and double-unders load the front of the knee hard. I treat CrossFit knee pain with hands-on remedial soft tissue therapy in Paddington, Brisbane.
Why CrossFit loads the knee
Squatting, jumping and landing at volume load the patellar tendon and the front of the knee. High reps under fatigue are usually what tips it into pain.
Why it is rarely just the knee
Hip and ankle control, quad tension and how you land all feed the knee. I treat the soft tissue and address what is loading it, and refer on where a scan is warranted.
How the treatment works
Assessment
I take your history, watch how you move, and use orthopaedic testing to rule things in or out. Black and white: positive or negative.
Treatment
Hands-on soft tissue work, with real time on the table. I treat the whole area involved, not just the point of pain.
Education
You leave understanding your own body. A few sessions in, you can tell me what is happening and why. That is what keeps it from coming back.
Common questions
Should I stop squatting?
Usually we adjust depth, load or volume rather than stop completely. I will give you a straight answer once I have assessed it.
Is this a sports massage?
No. This is clinical treatment for a specific problem, not a general relaxation rub down.
