Wrist pain in CrossFit

Front racks, overhead lifts and gymnastics work load the wrist in extension again and again. I treat CrossFit wrist pain with hands-on remedial soft tissue therapy in Paddington, Brisbane.

Why CrossFit loads the wrist

Cleans, presses and handstand work hold the wrist in loaded extension, and high-rep barbell and bar work keeps the forearm muscles that control it under tension.

The forearm link

Tight, overworked forearms feed wrist pain, so I treat the whole chain rather than just the joint, and refer you on if a bone or ligament injury needs ruling out.

How the treatment works

Assessment

I take your history, watch how you move, and use orthopaedic testing to rule things in or out. Black and white: positive or negative.

Treatment

Hands-on soft tissue work, with real time on the table. I treat the whole area involved, not just the point of pain.

Education

You leave understanding your own body. A few sessions in, you can tell me what is happening and why. That is what keeps it from coming back.

Common questions

Is it a sprain or something worse?

I do not diagnose fractures or significant ligament tears. If your symptoms suggest one, I will refer you for imaging. Otherwise I assess and treat the soft tissue.

Is this a sports massage?

No. This is clinical treatment for a specific problem, not a general relaxation rub down.
